Semi-Annual Toastmasters Dinner

Wednesday, January 25, 2006

Greetings Roosevelt Island Toastmasters,

Those of you who attended Roosevelt Island Toastmasters Dinner Parties on June 27, 2005 and January 23, 2006 know what a grand dining experience the Manhattan Grille offers. On Monday evening it was all about "inspiration" with Marlene serving as Toastmaster for the Evening. Doris presented a salute to past and present Roosevelt Island Toastmasters on our Silver Anniversary of Official Chartered Toastmaster History, and Bernie Silverman honored us with his presence. Not all founding or long-time RITM members were able to attend the dinner party on Monday, but the roles they have played and continue to play in making the Roosevelt Island Toastmasters a success over the years is deeply appreciated and an inspiration to those of us who aspire to become Competent Toastmasters. Uchi, Maria, and Anna (Treasurer in Robert?s absence) were present to enjoy the occasion, and Jim, Jill, Janet, Doris, Sue, Arlene, Malcolm,
Robert, Luigi, and also Deborah Lyons, Naomi, Pat, and others continue to inspire currently active Toastmasters. Club President Jim Luce is currently out of town on business so his message was presented in absentia, but the very able leadership of Marlene, Malcolm, Doris, and Sue insured the enjoyment of all who attended. The Club Secretary arrived half an hour late (he has been scheduled for officer training
to help him get his act together) so Marlene used her creative skills to improvise around the delay to make the event a success. Her words of inspiration and the assignments (as a table group assignment) to the nearly two dozen Toastmasters present to create brief but inspiring presentations after dinner made for a productive Toastmasters event and an enjoyable evening of dining.

The next meeting is on February 14 at the Westview Community Room

Woody Deas
Secretary
